Most of the following parameters are not new to version 5, but are included here for your information. They are all optional and do not have to be included in either the object or embed code. The OBJECT Parameter is shown first, with the equivalent EMBED directly below.

Every param statement must be enclosed within < >

<embed src ="YourSong.mid" HEIGHT=55 WIDTH=200 AUTOSTART="true">
Optional parameters for embed are included within the <embed src opening and closing >.
When set to "false" the user must click the Play button to start.

<param NAME="DETACH" VALUE="false">
DETACH="false"
When set to "true" a detached console will play together with the embedded console.
In this release some caution is required in coding in order to work with
both Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. You must use only the HEIGHT and WIDTH sizes as defined below for Crescendo.
HEIGHT=2 WIDTH=0 (hidden), or addition of the parameter HIDDEN="true" will prevent this option from working in Netscape.

NOSAVE="true"
When set to "false" the user can Save the file.

<param NAME="DELAY" VALUE=n>
DELAY=n
Where n equals the number of seconds before Play commences. This is useful if the file is very large and time is needed to load it. If n is negative (-n) then the first n seconds are not played. Use this to start at a specific point in time within the song.

<param NAME="VOLUME" VALUE="n%">
VOLUME="n%"
Where n equals a number between 1 and 100 that represents a percentage of the main volume level that has already been set by the sound card volume control.

<param NAME="LOOP" VALUE=n>
LOOP=n
Where n equals the number of times the song should repeat.
e.g. LOOP=2 would repeat 2 times and then stop. LOOP="infinite" will repeat until the page is closed.

BGCOLOR="#RRGGBB"
TXTCOLOR="#RRGGBB"
Where RRGGBB represents the hexadecimal numbers as used in defining colors in an HTML document. (Does not work with version 4.xx). You can color-match the console to suit your page as per this illustration:

BGCOLOR affects the overall background shown in pink.
TXTCOLOR affects the color of the time display.

CRESCENDO WIDTH and HEIGHT attributes.

By changing the width and height, there are various parts of the Crescendo console that will display, but only if the user has Crescendo installed. HEIGHT=18 WIDTH=82 and HEIGHT=50 WIDTH=46 does not work with version 4.xx. If the visitors is using some other plugin such as the Yamaha MIDPlug or the Netscape default plugin, it will appear in full or in part, depending on the space allotted by WIDTH and HEIGHT.

You can right-click anywhere on the smaller images when they are used to represent an embedded MIDI and the Menu will open to allow access to the Crescendo commands. (Not active in the above illustrations.)

Personally, I use a size that is best suited to display a smaller Crescendo console or the default Netscape plugin in the same allotted space.

HEIGHT=59 WIDTH=144 will display as follows:

"I CAN'T STOP LOVING YOU" - MIDI BY LES GORVEN

Due to the smaller size, the Crescendo "detach (float)" button is not included, however if you right-click anywhere on the console a menu will open allowing you to access all the options and commands for Crescendo.
